Governor Alex Otti and Minister Festus Keyamo officially flag off the construction of the Abia State International Cargo Airport in Isiala Ngwa North.
On December 17, 2024, the Abia State Government officially commenced the construction of the Abia State International Airport at the Nsulu site in Isiala Ngwa North LGA. The ceremony, led by Governor Alex Otti and Federal Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo, marks the transition from conceptual planning to active physical development.
Project Vision
The Governor emphasized that the airport is designed not just for passenger travel, but as a strategic hub for cargo and trade to support the industrial strength of Aba. The design includes a Type 4D runway capable of handling large-scale commercial and cargo aircraft.
Federal Support
Minister Keyamo praised the initiative, noting that the Federal Government would provide the necessary regulatory support through the NCAA and FAAN to ensure the facility meets international aviation safety standards from the onset.
