About Abia State

Abia State is located in the heart of Igbo territory in southeast Nigeria. The state has a rich cultural heritage, and its people, the Igbo, are known throughout West Africa and the diaspora for their entrepreneurial spirit, craft traditions, and community values.

Aba: The Aba Made Capital

Aba is famous across Africa for its locally produced goods. The "Aba Made" label refers to garments, shoes, bags and leather goods manufactured in the city to a quality that rivals imported products. Ariaria International Market, one of the largest markets in West Africa, is the beating heart of this economy and a major attraction in its own right.

Umuahia: Heritage and History

Umuahia houses the National War Museum, which chronicles the 1967–70 Nigerian Civil War (Biafra War) and is an important site for understanding the region's modern history. The city has a quieter, more administrative character than Aba, with good food, green spaces and a welcoming atmosphere for visitors.
