Transport from Abia Airport
Once Abia State International Airport opens, the following transport options are expected to be available. This page will be updated with confirmed operators and pricing as the opening approaches.
Pre-Booked Airport Transfers
Pre-booked taxi and private hire services are the most reliable option for airport transfers. Several Umuahia-based transfer operators already serve passengers travelling through Owerri and Enugu airports. These operators are expected to extend their services to Abia Airport when it opens.
Car Hire from Abia Airport
Car hire services will be available in the terminal on opening. Self-drive and chauffeured options are expected from operators based in Aba and Umuahia.
Taxi Services
Taxis will be available from the airport arrivals area. Agree the fare before departure, meters are not standard in Nigerian domestic taxis.
Shuttle Buses
Whether shuttle bus services will operate between the airport and Aba/Umuahia city centres depends on commercial operators responding to demand. This is common at established Nigerian airports and is expected at Abia once traffic develops.
